Located in midtown Manhattan, in the bustling Fashion district, Manhattan Beach Recording NYC had been my home since 1993. I ran things with my brother Daniel Lawrence who was our chief engineer. As of December 31st, 2009, the overhead got too much for us and we had to close our doors. I have moved to a great new space in Chelsea. Daniel continues to freelance in other studios around town.

Many people recorded at “The Beach” over the years and in particular we played host to Marian McPartland’s Piano Jazz program on NPR since we opened. Countless fantastic jazz artists have come and recorded our piano here.
